New York-based Mexican mezzo-soprano Rosario Armas is renowned for her profound voice, musicality and music versatility. Mrs. Armas was born in Tlaxcala, Mexico. She began her vocal studies in 2012 under the guidance of Luis Fernando Cisneros and Antonio Lopez at the vocal studio in Puebla, Mexico. She furthered her education at the Pre-College Division of the Escuela Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). In 2016, she relocated to New York to pursue a Bachelor's and Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music.

Armas has garnered recognition for her remarkable portrayals in opera productions. Her notable roles include Cherubino in W. Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro," Dorabella in Mozart's "Così fan Tutte," Juana in Carla Lucero's "La Opera Juana” Orsini in Donizetti’s “Lucrezia di Borgia ” Suzuki in Puccini’s "Madame Butterfly” Marthe in Gounod’s “Faust”  and Carmen in  Bizet’s "La Tragedie de Carmen."

Armas has received various scholarships and awards. She was honored with the prestigious Judith Raskin Scholarship from 2018 to 2022 and the International Advisory Board Scholarship from 2021 to 2022. In recognition of her talent, she was also awarded the "Encouragement Award" at the MONC district auditions in 2020 and 2021. Additionally, she achieved the 3rd Prize in the Joan Taub Ades Competition and was the Winner of The Eisenberg Fried concerto competition. Recently she was awarded the 2nd Prize at the Gerda Lissner Foundation Competition, Zarzuela Division. 

Armas has collaborated with esteemed orchestras such as the Orchestra Sinfónica de Morelia, Orchestra Sinfonica di Rimini, Orquesta Sinfonica de Sinaloa, Manhattan School of Music Symphonic orchestra and the  NOI orchestra . She has had the privilege of working with notable conductors including Pietro Billi, Felipe Tristan, Enrique Patron de Rueda, Thomas Muraco, Kevin Fitzgerald, Kent Tritle, and George Manahan and John Morris Russell. Mrs. Armas has also had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned musicians such as Warren Jones, Ubaldo Fabbri and  Kenneth Merrill among others.

Rosario is known for exploring popular music, including genres like “Bolero” and “Mexican Traditional Mariachi”. She has been featured in “Exilio”, the debut album of pianist Ahmed Alom, where she appears on “Adios Cuba”, composed by Julian de la Chica. Earlier in February of 2024, she released her first single: “Soledad” by De La Chica. 

She served as an Apprentice Singer at Sarasota Opera and as a Studio Artist at Wolf Trap Opera in 2023 covering the roles of Kate Pinkerton in "Madame Butterfly" and Martha in “Faust." This year she will joining Wolf Trap Opera for a second year covering the role of Despina in Mozarts opera “Così fan tutte”.

Rosario is an Irreverence Group Music (IGM) label artist. Her future commitments includes both premieres recordings of “Arias Florentinas” and “Canciones de la Muerte” this last one dedicated to her by composer Julian de la Chica, under IGM.
